About

JACQUELINE PICKSTOCK was born in the 1950’s, Jacqueline has painted in oils since nine years of age. At school she was awarded prizes for art and continued to paint on an amateur basis until she enrolled for evening classes at the Butts Coventry. Here under the guidance of Mr Chris Clayden she developed her figurative drawing and painting skills. Jacqueline then went on to study at Warwick University where she gained a Bachelor of Arts degree with Qualified Teaching Status.

Over the years Jacqueline has produced a mixture of portraits, landscapes and figurative paintings in oils. She has held several exhibitions and been involved in many Community Art Projects in Coventry.

Jacqueline won the Herbert Art Gallery’s panels choice award at the Coventry Open for her painting called the “Cats Head” .

Working alongside the Herbert Art Gallery, Jacqueline taught and encouraged young gifted artists of Coventry and organised the painting of murals for schools.

At present she has a promenant position in the Coventry Art Guild, organising exhibitions and meetings for the members.

Jacqueline has also worked in industry, painting murals on a commercial basis for restaurants and sports halls.

The more recent work explores a love affair with the changes produced in this digital age where images are transformed to new dimensions .This alteration of colours, space and lines are her stimulation to create images that question perception of form.

Jacqueline uses oils to create vibrant colourful paintings full of energy. The paintings hopefully question the imagination and challenge you to think.

Her recent pieces of work strip the outer layers off the subject, resulting with a semi skeletal form with tunnels and surfaces that interlock and twist beneath each surface layer.

Jacqueline says that painting “is much like doing a puzzle, the process and frustration unravelling the problem is as enjoyable as the final solution”.

She sees every painting as a challenge to increase her painting skills. Her paintings can take anything from two to six weeks to complete.
